How do I know if I need a panel upgrade?
Common signs include frequently tripping breakers, a fuse box instead of a breaker panel, a panel rated at 100 amps or less, visible corrosion or rust on the panel, or plans to add major appliances like an EV charger, hot tub, or central AC. If your home was built before 1990 and has never had a panel upgrade, it's worth having us assess it.
How long does a panel upgrade take?
Most panel upgrades are completed in one day. A straightforward 100A to 200A upgrade typically takes 6-8 hours. If the service entrance or meter base also needs replacement, or if utility coordination requires scheduling, the project may span two days.
Will I lose power during the panel upgrade?
Yes, power will need to be shut off during the panel swap, typically for 4-6 hours. We coordinate with We Energies or your local utility to schedule the disconnection. We recommend planning for the outage and can advise on how to prepare.
How much does a 200 amp panel upgrade cost in Wisconsin?
