Who issues electrical permits in Fond du Lac?
The City of Fond du Lac's Inspection Services department issues electrical permits and performs electrical inspections for homes inside the city. Its office is in the City County Government Center on South Macy Street. The city's electrical inspection page points to the Wisconsin DSPS electrical code, SPS 316, as the standard work is inspected to.
Since September 1, 2026, SPS 316 adopts the 2023 National Electrical Code. One change homeowners notice: the 2023 NEC requires a surge-protective device on services that supply homes, including when a service is replaced. Read what changed in Wisconsin's code.
If you live in a surrounding town or village rather than the city, permits may come from a different local or state inspector. We confirm that from your address before we start.
