Getting around the county.
Sheboygan County covers the stretch between Lake Michigan and the Kettle Moraine. I-43 runs along the lakeshore past Cedar Grove, Oostburg and Sheboygan. Highway 23 crosses east–west through Sheboygan Falls and Plymouth. Highway 57 runs north–south through Random Lake, Adell and Plymouth, and Highways 28, 32, 42, 67 and 144 link the smaller villages. From Random Lake, most of the southern half of the county is a short drive on state and county roads, and Sheboygan and Plymouth are a straightforward trip up 57 or I-43.
It's a county of contrasts: Lake Michigan beaches and Kohler-Andrae State Park on the east side, the Kettle Moraine State Forest Northern Unit to the west, Dutch-heritage villages along the lakeshore, and dairy farms throughout. About 118,000 people live here (2020 census).
Homes and electrical work
Sheboygan County has a lot of older housing. Census estimates (ACS 2024 1-year) put about 28% of the county's homes before 1940. The median home was built around 1971. You'll find century-old houses in Sheboygan, Plymouth and Sheboygan Falls, 1960s–70s ranches in every village, newer subdivisions on the edges of town, and farmhouses with outbuildings everywhere in between.
